The Lawn, Rochford Wedding Photography | Chloe & Lee
Most venues do the work quietly, in the background. The Lawn, Rochford does it in the foreground — a Georgian manor house with formal gardens that open straight onto rolling parkland, close enough to Essex's town centres to be easy for guests, and grand enough that you'd never guess it. When Chloe and Lee married here, the house gave the day its structure and its light did the rest: a bright, warm afternoon that ran straight through into a golden, low-sun evening.
This is the story of their day.
Getting Ready
Chloe got ready at The Lawn itself, surrounded by her bridal party, while hair and makeup came together under @bohoandbridal and @zoefidgeonmakeupartist. Chloe wore a gown from @blushbridalgowns. Lee's morning had its own quieter energy — sharp tailoring from @anthony_formalwear, and the particular stillness that settles over a groom in the hour before he sees his partner walk towards him.
The Ceremony
Chloe and Lee married outdoors at The Lawn, beneath a white wooden arbour dressed simply with greenery. Bridesmaids in soft sage green led the way, flower girls carrying baskets and a page boy entrusted with the rings.
Lee's reaction in that first look down the aisle anchors the whole gallery from this wedding — the shot every couple says they want, and the one that's genuinely impossible to fake: raw, immediate, over before either of them had time to think about the camera.
Lee and his groomsmen chose green tweed for the day, a warm, seasonal counterpoint to Chloe's sage-and-blush palette — coordinated without being matchy, and exactly the kind of styling that photographs well outdoors. As the couple stepped back down the aisle, guests sent them off through a shower of confetti.
The florals from @courts_of_rayleigh_florist framed the ceremony space against The Lawn's grounds, soft and seasonal rather than overworked — the kind of styling that photographs well because it isn't fighting the setting for attention.
The Grounds — Golden Hour Portraits
The Lawn's grounds gave us everything a golden-hour session needs: mature trees, a rope swing framed against the house that Chloe returned to again and again through the session, and light that turned the whole property amber as afternoon rolled into evening. Chloe and Lee were unhurried and completely at ease with each other in front of the lens — always the difference between portraits that look posed and portraits that look like a marriage.
The Reception
The evening opened with a genuinely unscripted moment — a barefoot race across the lawn between the younger guests, the kind of chaos no photographer plans for and every photographer hopes for. Guests then tucked into a relaxed hog roast as the light dropped, before the celebration moved indoors for speeches, a first dance under warm uplighting, and a bouquet toss that had the dancefloor scrambling.
The cake, a single-tier design from @pudsbakes finished in pastel piped rosettes with a hand-lettered "Mr & Mrs" plaque, was a lovely, personal detail against all that greenery.
As the night drew to a close, Chloe and Lee's guests lined up for the sparkler exit — that final burst of noise and light that always feels like the whole day exhaling at once. It's one of my favourite ways to close a wedding gallery, and this one delivered.
